Social Media For B2B

Twitter Tip – #hashtags and realtime community

Yesterday I attended a webinar on social marketing along with several thousand of other attendees.     The moderator announced that many people were tweeting about the webimar realtime using the hashtag for #awareness.    So, I went to Twitter, under search and entered #awareness.    What I saw was a log of tweets related to the webinar and in essence a realtime chat session going on during the webinar.   I made a few tweets and interacted with some of the other attendees.   Within minutes  I gained about 10 followers  (under my personal twitter account)
Also, I recently witnessed how many tweeters built community around the South By SouthWest conference  #sxsw    I did not attend the conference, however I followed many of the attendees and their tweets through the hashtag  #sxsw     I am sure that I could have engaged with many of them and gained some followers if I wanted to take the time.
In summary, this could be another way that we can use social media to break into online communities, engage with business people, build followers and relationships with people who might eventually become our customers .
